You may get the same result without going back to 6.2 by forcing the install program
to select X
3.3.6 (I believe there is a preferx3 or something like that in the conf parms) This is

for an antique laptop with RH 7.2, it runs nice and accelerated with X 3.3.6 and
hideously slow

using RedHat rmps for frame buffer support. My XF86Config-4 is
configured to use fbdev as the driver and X is linked to XF86_FBDev.

I have a new laptop with an ATI Fire GL 9000, so I try the CVS version
of XFree. But it is realy slow, there is a way to remove the debug
option ? I try a strip -s in the binary directory but it s always
slow.
