Hi,
I'll guess that the framebuffer driver is not loaded. Did you insmod or
modprobe (equivalent things) the framebuffer prior to starting X?

First, AFAIK, you *MUST* be using XFree86 4.2.0 for
dualhead support on the Radeon 7500. Also, if you are

The console program to set the mouse is mouseconfig run as root, that
should set your mouse in 'X'. If at first you don't succeed try try

Hi Samantha,
Firstly, you need to switch from XF86_SVGA to the 4.1.0 server, as per
Lionel's reply.
After that, there is a newer driver for the SiS chips available. Thomas is

Hi,
1. no HTML on this list, it's not nice for those with a slow connection to the web...
2. I regret to have to say that you seem to have a mess:
The X server: XF86_SVGA is an X 3.3.6 server (as opposed to drivers which are what X
4.1.0 uses)
Cure:
1. find out whether you are running X 4.1.0
If you're using sth before 4.2.0, upgrade.
Try adding
Option NoAccel

try PJA, it's a solution in Java that replaces the awt toolkit with a

and 4.x.x and
give you both XF86Config for 3.3.6 and XF86Config-4 for 4.x.x. This trips a lot of
people (I also
got confused some time ago editing the wrong file...)

To answer (or try to) a couple of your questions:
On my office dual-monitor system, i simply type startx, and it starts the
server on both displays (a Tride

That should force the install (whether it will work that's another story)

I'm assuming you're using a linux driver for you vid card? If so then
take out the unix/:7100 line under the 'Selection "Files"' in the
XFree86Config file. Then do a 'XFree86 -configure' which will create a
XFree86Config.new file in your home directory. Open that up and add the

Have you tried running xf86config? It's a bit harder but I'm almost 100%
certain it will run :-)

Well, "GOBS of trouble" doesn't provide all that much detail. :) Are you
seeing error messages? Does X even start? What are some symp
The thing is, you're not really describing what your problem isIt
should work, right now, it won't do 3D, you need to get the Nvidia drivers
for that... aside from that, I don't know what your problem is, and I don't
have a G-Force ;-p

Hi
I not pretty sure about your XFree86 version that you want to install or
configure. Version 3.3.6 or version 4.
This are the XFree86 3.3.6 video adapters supported in that version, but I
don't see your specific adapter on the list:
