I remember using 7.0 on an old NEC laptop with an attached monitor. It wasn't my comp though, so I don't know if any special configuration needs to be done. To try and fix your problem, I'd suggest booting in runtime level 3 when you do your install, so that X doesn't automaticallly start, and

[newbie] The Evil Lothar disarms the hapless user in the battle for sound

I just installed Mandrake 7.0. When I try to run Lothar to recognize my nic and sound card it freezes my mouse. I'm still able to tab around the window, but that's about it. Is there a work around to set up my sound card (preferably easy)? Or is there a fix to keep mymouse working? -Dan
