Personally I clean my chain with kerosene and a tooth brush every 3K miles or
so to get the old grime off. I have read that WD40 is bad though because it
acts as a penetrant and goes past the o-rings to dissolve the grease inside the
chain.

i would just bring the lube... Lube once daily if your doing alot of riding...
Did you replace the chain and both sprockets as a set? That goes a long way in
making all the components last... For a full explaination look up cycle goodies

There's the fine line there. When I did repair work it drove me nuts when
ppl would call wanting to know "how much longer" because answering those
calls slowed me down from performing the repairs. At the same time you

Depends on where he ordered them from and what the supply is like. These
bikes are getting older and parts are getting harder to find so sometimes it

For a point of reference I picked mine up just a month ago - 2002 NH
750 for $2000 with 19K and pretty clean, only major was a rip in the
seat...in the Bay Area also.
