+1 on the warm up. All Hondas exhibit that tendency -- cold blooded, because of the too- lean nature of the air-fuel mix. Typical warm up is more like 5 minutes or more. Good measure to determine when the bike is ready to ride is: full choke on start up, then wait till idle starts to drop.

Wow. Full choke? Summer months I barely have to crack the lever on it, and it takes about a minute for the idle to leap up above 3k. Colder weather (down to forties) takes half choke and ~6 minutes before I'm off it completely. 20s, which we get for about two months here, it's 3/4 choke and 7-8

I had that problem with some leather ones on my 650. I found out where the bind up was and had to cut a few holes in the leather. I also had to drive new holes for the lacing to shorten them up to keep them off the exhaust. Btw, my riding music of choice today was Anthrax's new album ;) -Kyle On
