I needed a quick fix on the road (a chip fell out of the already weeping
glass) so I just jb welded a penny over the existing until I could do a
proper fix

Another common place for a motor to leak is the seal behind the front drive
sprocket. Assuming you don't have a shaft drive model here. Leaks in this
area are hard to diagnose until they get severe. Like Kyle said the shifter
seal is a likely culprit and is usually next to the drive sprocket under
Sounds to me like it fell off the bottom crank sprocket and is jammed. I'd
get a helper and try to play with moving the crank while working the chain.
