I'm not familiar with the 700s, however, I replaced the valve cover gasket on
my '92 750. It wasn't too hard. Just follow the repair manual.
Last tire I bought, I got from my neighbor who owns a Harley repair shop. I
think I got the valve cover gasket from him also

Sounds like too much fuel, not enough air.
What sort of shape is your air filter in? That's the easiest place to start.

Hey Jay. I'm in Tampa and my trick for cold starts is to put the bike in gear
and push it a couple of feet to turn the motor. I also leave it on a trickle
charger on cold nights. 20 w 50 is what I use usually and it is thick oil for
cold weather. I try to go lighter oil for the cold.

U don't get that issue when the temp gets below 40? I always have. Yeah, not
too bad in FL but when you need the bike to get you to work, it needs to start!

The suggestions to get a tap and chase the threads, as well as get a set of
harbor freight allen sockets are what I would do. The sockets come in
handy, I use them all the time and the largest one in the set works for
pulling the fork caps on your 750.

Just try this once. When cold, apply full choke, no (or tiny bit) of throttle
and try it. Sounds to me like it may be the to clean the carbs, though. Oh,
and new spark plugs, if not already. That can really help.

have a 700S i can't verify this is correct, there were two connections that
appear to have changed wire colors I labeled them with a ?.
Here is the pdf version it is in a huge paper size and can be printed on a
plotter.
