I'd take them out if it makes you feel better. You can leave them in like Tommy
said. If you're not cranking on the throttle it shouldn't matter. Try checking
the spark plugs. Good luck!

The air filter is stock. The previous owner read a forum posting about
adding those washers and tried it out.

noticed no difference so took it off. If you just wanna play, and it IS easy,
remove them.

Wow, thanks for all the responses and advice! The bike was dropped by one
of the 3 previous owners, and the guy before me repainted it with those
