Yes it would. That is the point of the overflow tubes. I just figured that
you weren't sure what was what.

Took a closer look today with the sidecovers off. Gas is coming from where
fuel t-joint enters carb 3 (then dripping down to carb 2). Doesn't look
like any leak at the top of the float bowls, and definitely not coming from
the overflow tubes.
If the float valve was stuck open, wouldn't the fuel
+1 on Allen. Sounds like a float or the fuel bar/orings.

Take a wooden dowel put it on the carb and give it a couple of taps with a
hammer that might dislodge the float needle. It sound to me like it is a
stuck float issue not a gasket issue. You could also try blowing compressed
air into the fuel line.

Thanks Allen. Guess I forgot to mention that it only leaks while
running. I understand that the petcock only flows when engine vacuum is
present, so that seems to indicate that the petcock is functioning properly.
Just tried starting it up today, and all I got was another puddle of gas

You probably had a piece of grit holding a float needle open. Also check
the petcock diaphragm as it is there to prevent that.
