Now we know what women go through trying to decide on a purse.
For my intended purpose of long distance travel it means a bag that can
hold up the test of miles, be not so kewl that it's asking to be ripped off
in some shopping mart, and can actually hold a few things.

With so many different styles and manufacturers around, it is hard to
guesstimate what works.
I would like a bag with a map cover that would fit a rain suit and can of
chain lube. Big enough yet not so that it appears to be a tumor sticking
off the tank.
Any suggestions for a late model NH 750?
Sorry the arm bands are detachable, I don't wear those.

You don't happen to recall the specific model, do you? I'm willing to drop
$150 on something that will stand up to regular usage on a commuter, sounds
like yours does.

I carry a florescent yellow milspec bag made by iconmotto. $144. Carries a
laptop. A place for your helmet for stoarge. Tool kit, lots of space for
books and stuff. Very comfortable. I'm military and it works great for day
to day and long rides.

So, I'm considering getting a tank bag to use for my "light" commuting
days. I have saddlebags for when I need to take the whole school kit,
textbooks and all, or when I'm making my "laundry run" to work (Uniforms
for a week...).
What I'm looking at maybe doing is getting a tank bag that can fit a
Mythbusters did an episode about wiping credit cards using all the usual
myths from magnets to electric eelskin wallets. Found that they're much
harder to wipe than you would think.

Really old cards, from the early days of widespread use, had issues with
magnets. Modern credit cards, however, shouldn't even bat a metaphorical eye
at being near such a weak magnet.

I've actually seen some "Paul Jr. Designs" magnetic tank bags at the Mall-Mart
that have what you're looking for - magnetic and see-through pouches. I doubt
that i'd buy one myself since I prefer things without big logos written in neon
lights, but they looked pretty neat. I think the price was
I haven't tried either of those, but I've got the Cortech Super-mini
Magnetic-mount Tankbag on my 84 700. Not as big as the ones you're looking
at but I've been happy with it. Enough room to fit my raingear, small
backpack, and other stuff in. Has the clear "map pocket" on top but I use it

i am looking to buy a tank bag in the near future for my NH 750. i
