Sounds like brushes. Starter rebuild for around $30 in parts and 1/2 hour to 1 hour of your time. Search ebay for starter rebuild kits for your year/model. - JO On Jul 28, 2011, at 8:52 PM, Stefano Ascari wrote: > Ok, so I have a feeling the starter is fried. It smells burnt and is really >

Ok, so I have a feeling the starter is fried. It smells burnt and is really hot. There's clicks when I hit the ignition but that's it. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group. To post to this group, send email to nighthawk

Yes. That fuse was loose rusty and intermittent on mine. If yours was the same taking fuse out and replacing it might make it work temporarily. You could replace all fuses with ATC style fuses, including one near headlight as they get old. On Jul 27, 2011 11:07 AM, "Stefano Ascari" wrote: > Robert

Put a volt meter across the battery with the engine running, rev the engine to above 3k - 5k rpms. It should read over 13 volts, maybe 13.5 or more. If it stays at 12 or whatever your fully charged battery reads with engine off (12.5 e.g.), probably even showing discharge, then it's either

Stefano, Their are several threads (some pretty heated) about the charging system on these bikes. There's plenty of reading there but the long and short of it is they don't produce enough electricity to keep the battery charged at lower rpms. 2500 or greater is where you need to keep it, the lengt
