My current gig involves testing an IOT device that likes to "phone home"
and it would be much easier for me if I could easily monitor the traffic.
Does anybody have a managed switch they can loan (or give!) me?
An old 10Mb switch is OK if I can just set it to echo the traffic to more
than one outp
Run wireshark and watch the traffic?

I’ve got one or two old, old Cisco Catalyst switches that I would gladly
give you. They’re 100BaseT and I have no idea how they are configured or
what the current password is. I did a hardware reset of one of them the
other day just to get into it.

I can monitor the traffic if it hits my NIC but right now my entire network
is switched so no traffic goes to the machine I would monitor from.

I don't know the first thing about configuring a Cisco switch for port
mirroring but I do know it is possible.

You're right.
I've thought of all kinds of other options since I sent my initial message
and I also realize that my message was incomplete. The device actually is
using wireless so I could also have used a router with dd wrt or maybe set
up a linux machine with wireless as an access point (as
I contacted Chris off-line yesterday and took him up on his kind offer
(below).
