While most of what Gerben states is close enough to the truth to
be a matter of opinion, I really object to the tone of 'there is no
documentation'. There is, in fact, a whole lot of documentation.
It may be incomplete (especially when it comes to recent developments),
but that is quite diff

why was 'script=latn' removed from the three predefined fontfeatures
default, oldstyle and smallcaps.
A lot of fonts (free and commercial) need these features to enable
kerning, ligatures and other features.

Mkiv, yes? This is a luatex bug/limitation: it is using the
PUA numbers as ToUnicode value. I'll add a tracker item for
