$ contextjit --version
mtxrun | unknown script 'context.lua' or 'mtx-context.lua'
I have reproduced it, after some trials, by removing files
in "trees" in cache.
So try
mtxrun --generate

Hans,
I have just updated ConTeXt Standalone to beta from 2014.12.29 10:01 and
I get the following error:
$ contextjit --version
mtxrun | unknown script 'context.lua' or 'mtx-context.lua'
I’m afraid this seems to be a bug.

What's wrong there?
It looks like you have a new luatex, but a relatively old context.
The latest luatex's (0.31.X) need the alpha/experimental context.
Best wishes,

Hi all,
there is some deep bug that was discovered translating Beginners manual.
Let take single chapter e.g. ma-cb-cz-alignments.tex
With today beta I got .log attached (error ! Extra \else)
This will appear in both modes screen and normal.
Interesting is that no error appears in context 200
