Plain uses a feature syntax similar to Xetex’s:

caps / oldstyle as "features".

as baseencoding-variant.enc. This is so a modified encoding can
"masquerade" as the base encoding within ConTeXt.

Some of these truetypes have expert features embedded into their
glyphs. texnansi automatically takes care of integrating the "ff,"
"ffi" and "ffl" ligatur
