Great suggestion. I use MS OneNote to do just that. Every time I run across an
issue that I have not seen, I try to put it into an OneNote notebook. That way
I can search.
There is no effort learning how to use it, because you can print directly to
OneNote.

Here is a suggestion: Download Microsoft's Virtual PC. Create an Admin Virtual
PC where you could install all these apps/consoles. Run it from your own
desktop (this will keep your desktop clean from all those apps with crap.) This
will give you a clean PC, an admin console, and something that y
A lot of today's software is designed to run on a local desktop and then it

For example: You can administer active directory from your local desktop and
not log into the server (though I wouldn't recommend this to a someone who

I have seen this happen with dual nics in a server. Solution is to use the nics
in a cluster. Make sure that you have updated NIC drivers as well. Also make
sure that the DHCP server isn't giving out the server address via dhcp.
Make sure no one (you know how NO one is) did a custom mac address
If the DNS problems are with 2008 r2, then set up a DNS server that is separate
from the DC. I would only rebuild/reboot the whole domain if I had a major

There was a recent patch that causes PowerPoint security to block unsecure
ppts. For example if you have a ppt that you build yourself you should be fine,
but if you insert a ppt into your ppt, then you get an error. The slides

I have seen this problem. There are several ways to resolve this, the obvious
one is to upgrade to Outlook 2010.
Another way is to change the security settings on the account properties to
NTLM instead of negotiate. That has resolved the issue for us.

If you cannot restore your data in less than a week, you might as well close.
The current thinking in D/R is that 90% of businesses fail if data cannot be
recovered within 7 days.
