I have exprienced slow data access from badly fragmented NTFS drives. I don't
have any recent data nor do I have hard data from a test environment. I do
know that after defragging my users' hard drives their computer response times
more than doubled. IE it took less than half the previous time
So far I don't see anything close to a solution for this. It has nothing to do
with ethernet or token net.
I had exactly the same problem using a shared copy of office, strictly an
ethernet system never a tokennet.This is a known problem with office which
one of their service packs fixed.
I used the autologon feature as a test. Ran it for a couple of weeks then went
on to something else. I remember it was simple to implement, had no security
and appeared to be absolutely useless in my environment.
