IIS 7 allows you to define “users” that only exist in IIS.
ASP.NET allows the same thing

You're right it's not a huge deal and I guess it comes down to personal
preference but
s a little neater than dealing with computer
accounts and NTFS etc.

I'd just be relying on whatever Google throws up rather than first-hand
