Does anyone have any experience of replacing the drives in an Equallogic with
larger, enterprise but non-Dell drives such as Seagate Constellation ES?
I suspect Dell are going to want a small fortune.

The only actual experience I have is replacing a Dell 250GB drive with a
non-Dell one. Couldn't have been easier. Pulled out the old, inserted the new
and auto rebuild ensued.

I was under the impression that this wouldn't work because of custom
firmware on the drives. Additionally, are you maintaining a maintenance
agreement on said equipment, and if so, does it void the maintenance?

an old cheap EQ box with small drives for testing.
Maybe I'll slap some bigger drives in it today and let you know how it goes.
