Google Docs works nicely. If you have a Google Apps domain (which I believe
you can still get Standard Edition for free), you can add OffiSync [1] for
free - which installs a toolbar into your local Microsoft Office
applications that allows you to directly access/open/save all the core
Office-type
I evaluated this for a client and it worked pretty well:

She opted not to go with it, choosing to use Dropbox instead.
