I had a bad set of firmware back in the day with a 2600 (or it might have been on the 220s enclosure attached to it... don't remember which)... it would drop a good drive out of the array instead of the failed drive and attempt to rebuild with the bad drive. Thank god for backups. Jim Slattery S

Since it is a raid 5, you really don't want to run it with one failed drive since one more failed drive and you lose everything. I'd try shutting down the server, reseat the controller and all the cables that connect the controller to the drive backplane. I'd also blow the dust out of the sockets
