Change the drive letter in disk management, then download the firmware
update for the drive.

Are all the DVD drives the same make/model/firmware?
Does the drive disappear while actively being used?
If you said Yes and Yes, check for a firmware update for the drives. Had a
similar problem with a BD-ROM drive, firmware update fixed it right up.
