Hello:
I am sorry to dig up a very old thread, but this problem is exactly the
same as I am experiencing. My Tripp Lite UPS enters a shut-down loop at
some point after a connected device running NUT is restarted or connected
by USB. I have replicated this behavior with a Synology NAS running their

This should be easy enough to test on my end.
Issues happen pre-init. So no NUT. Also tested on systems with, and
without NUT installed.
I have confirmed this issue with the ubuntu-20.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso, to
make sure you can replicate it (I hope). I am also having the same issue
on my ProxMox box with "5.4.101-1-pve" kernel (Latest).

I have not figured this out yet. It makes it more odd that my tests don't
reproduce the issue (I just ran a few quick tests again) and we're not hearing
it from more users (although it seems like at least one more on serverfault:

On a quick check, I'm not seeing the problem with Ubuntu 20.04.1 and an
SU1000RTXLCD2U (4004 for USB). Reboot the box and disconnect/reconnect cable
were both ok.
I'll look into it more.

I don't have a quick answer for you but I'll be in the office later this week
and can grab a model with the same protocol and run a test on one of my Ubuntu
boxes (which should be close enough to your Pi setup).
Thank you,
