Interesting weather setting up overnight - there appear to be a lot of
birds moving thru the state, while a large & potentially lengthy
weather event is slowly encroaching from the W/SW... some of that
impulse perhaps out of Mexico with 'coat-tails' in TX &
YES the SWAINSONS HAWK was still present in its usual haunts Thursday
evening; last observed around 4: 30 or so.
The bird has been wandering high and far lately almost to becoming a speck
in the Southeast sky. But, for some reason, it keeps coming back each time
almost to the very perch

In addition to Ken's Clay-colored Sparrow at Zach's Bay today, another
was present at the western edge of field 2, along the fence behind the
dumpster, where it consistently associated with a House Sparrow. The
pines at the turnaround hosted Pine & Parula Warblers, in addition to

A relatively quiet fall migration day was enlivened this morning by
the brief appearance of a somewhat late Connecticut Warbler at the
hedgerow at the Coast Guard Station. Subsequent attempts to locate the
bird were unsuccessful, despite the large number of birders that were
looking. Also
Rich Guthrie called to report that the hawk is present this morning at the
same location that has been specified these last few days.
