Well a short lunch break seawatch out at the inlet to Montauk Harbor yielded
some good birds very close to shore. Both common and King Eiders were seen as
well as a fair amount of Common Loons.
After looking for the Harlequin Duck at lake Mountauk (with no luck) I took my
first trip to Fort Po

I had a male Sharpie in my yard this weekend, noticed when I was
wondering where all the sparrows were.

At 2:55pm today I spotted 2 BLACK VULTURES heading south over Main

A short break this morning at Montauk Harbor inlet proved to be worth the
drive. Just to the West of the jetty there was a Harlequin Duck no more then a
30 - 50 feet from shore working the rocks of the jetty. In the general area
there was a pair of Surf Scoters and pair of Old Squaw. Also along
The Mew Gull was present at its usual location at the bottom of the Belt
Parkway overpass at 17th Avenue http://tinyurl.com/yhsfdee. I watched the bird
from about 12:00 noon to 12:30. The gull was still there when I left.

The first winter male Yellow-headed Blackbird was seen again today
by several viewers around 8am and again at 3:30 pm
at Pruyn Audubon Sanctuary, 275 Millwood Road, Chappaqua NY.
The sanctuary is open to the public dawn to dusk.

Today my friend Bernie Conway described a dead bird he found at NYBG. He
described it as bigger than a warbler but smaller than an oriole with a bright
