Sunday, 12 September, 2010 - Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City In what has this year become a somewhat familiar scenario, birds seen the day before were mainly missing this day, seemingly having moved on already, although the weather conditions may not have helped a lot in the search.

Dear birders, I have a Redbellied Woodpecker nest somewhere near my yard every summer and usually get the fledglings brought to my feeders for easy chow. I had assumed the nest had failed this year, but lo and behold, this morning dad showed up with fledglings. They usually show in July and

The storms moving in from the west this morning performed as has come to be expected at this time of year. Many shore birds were put down at our usual spots, affording great looks at some and good numbers of still others. Here is a list of what Arlene Borko and I found this morning. Renee

A feeding group of 5 Buff-breasted, 3 Pectorals, and 4 Leasts were present on the Shoreham sod fields very close to Cooper St at 8:30 AM this morning. They could not be relocated at 9 AM, when I returned with my camera, but may still be present. Joel Horman, Ridge, NY -- NYSbirds-L List
