I've known strong cold fronts in January to trigger movements of hawks,
Common Grackles, and winter finches. I can't say I've noticed it for run of
the mill passerines. But maybe there is a point in time when half hardies
give up on that. Considering how few passerines I've been seeing at Jones

Thank you for all your responces so far on the chaffinch. Tomorrow (Monday)
being a holiday never occured to us. We feel that weekend rules would probably
apply. So we will be putting off our trip until the next available weekday to
respect the homeowners wishes.
Thanks,

My wife and I were interested in any information that could be provided about
the chaffinch. We planned to go to NJ tomorrow morning to try to see it, but
have failed to see any recent posts about it. We were wondering if it was
still around as of Friday 1/13. We will be respectful of the gu

NYSbirders,
I just read a report of Pacific Loon at Jones Inlet (reported via the
Cape May text message RBA system). Bob Horton texted that the bird
was seen yesterday, 1/15. I have no further details, but thought it
would be good to give a heads up to birders in the area.
Cheers,
Tom

I suspect that before we saw it, it went from Zach’s, where I suspect it
was the cause of the mass uprising of Brant that we saw (but did not see a
