for the first time in several years. Apparently, somewhere along the way this

When I left the East Pond, Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge at 7:45pm, the Ruff
was still feeding on the eastern side at the North End, south of "Dead
Man's Cove". You can see a roof through the trees on the east side in this
area, and if you moved your eyes all the way down, there was the Ruff!

An Osprey flew over downtown Buffalo at 12:50 pm today clutching what I
imagine was a fish. Nice yard bird for me (and Jim Horn).

The second Ruff that was discovered this morning has not been seen for well
over an hour. Last observed with Tom Burke, Gail Benson and Doug Futumya on
the Southend of the East Pond.

Just discovered a second Ruff on the East Pond at Jamaica Bay. Both birds are
on the east side of the pond well south of the muddy cove at the north end. The
second bird is also a black morph, but appears to have more breeding plumage
remaining including tufts on the neck and belly.

While doing a sea watch at RMSP this morning, a single Brown Pelican flew low
over the water heading east (about 7:55AM). Otherwise, the ocean was mostly
empty with the exception of an unidentified, distant shearwater sitting on the

The Ruff is still here on the East Pond at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge.
Currenly feeding on the eastern side at the North End just past "Dead Man's
Cove". Currently raining so dress appropriately if you will try for it this
morning.
Good and responsible birding!
