At 2:20pm today I was starting my search for Longspurs and Snow Buntings on Skinners Lane in the black dirt region approaching Pine Island when from a spot unseen a bird flew along the ditch on my left hand side. Immediately I knew by the size, shape and flight that it was a shrike. It flew up
After striking out on the previously reported PACIFIC LOON in both
Hart's Cove in Moriches and then Seatuck Cove in Eastport, I found
the bird in Tuthill Cove (alternately called West Cove) off the end
of Atlantic Avenue. It was 250-300+ yards off shore, so a scope was
a necessity. During the
The Barnacle Goose was feeding with a large flock of Canada Geese at the
southern end of the Parade Grounds by the Nature Center this afternoon.

Virginia's Warbler around 2:30 p.m. Eric's message describes the following:

reliable locations for Monk Parakeet in Westchester County.

Ed Bescher just called me to report that he saw the Virginia's Warbler
at about 11:35 AM this morning at Little Alley Pond, along the edges of
the pond itself. The bird has since disappeared, but it's good to know
the bird is still present and possibly favoring a new location.
