A decent flock of WHITE WINGED CROSSBILLS with at least (2) RED CROSSBILLS
highlighted the Saturday morning bird walk.
Twenty-two birders were treated to a high flying flock of CROSSBILLS that kept
growing and growing as more birds kept joining them. On one tree we spotted: WW
CROSSBILL (16),
Nine Redhead ducks were seen at FDR State Park, Yorktown Heights
yesterday morning and, again, late afternoon, picked up during the
Peekskill CBC.
Five males and four females.
They were in with a group of 21 Ring-necked Ducks.
Also present in the same area were 2 Pied-billed Grebe, 8 Bufflehead,

City Island Pine Circle, my eyes up in the treetops, I became aware of
something watching me and it was not an owl!

Yesterday afternoon I found a Peregrine Falcon about 1/3 of the way up the
big communications tower at the Coast Guard Station in HB at the foot of
the Ponquogue Bridge. This has been a historically popular spot for
Peregrines - especially in cooler months so keep an eye out.

Yesterday while scouting at Edgemere Landfill for the Queens CBC I found a Le
Conte's Sparrow. Due to the sensitive nature of access there I held off
reporting it until now. We did not find it today on count day.
