Tom Fiore's post this morning got me to brave the chill and happily locate the
wigeons (3), the lone Red-breasted grebe, a wood duck pair, coots, northern
shovelers, lingering buffleheads and a surprise pair of red-breasted mergansers
at the south end west of the pump house.Good day for ducks!

Around noon today I checked the fresh water wet lands by the Mashomack
Preserve
visitor center for the third time this year and was able to find 8 Rusty
Blackbirds, 5 males and 3 females. I reported it at e-bird, hope it reached
the research group.
