The Montauk CBC was held on Saturday (20 Dec 2014) and enjoyed both good
weather and an excellent turnout of energetic counters from far and near.
Scouting efforts before the count produced almost no stakeout rarities and
in fact indicated low numbers of birds across the circle, however things

Hello Everyone,
I am curious as to if anyone has had success in locating Screech Owls at
the Massapequa Preserve. I've scouted the area around the Walker Street
entrance but was unsuccessful. Can anyone suggest a good spot/location to
look? I would be most gracious.
thanks!

Highlights from Saturday's 12/20/2014 Peekskill CBC included:
High counts of bald eagle (34) pileated WP (19), American pipit (41 all at
croton point), and both eastern bluebird and common raven (can't recall the

Dear Mr. Lazaro,
What you describe has been an ongoing problem for as long as I can
remember.
The blatant type of harassment you describe is against the law as
useless expenditure of energy threatens the owls very lives.
If you see this again call for a DEC Wildlife Enforcement Officer.
Something to keep in mind:
