An influx of blackbirds, esp. Red-winged Blackbirds & Common Grackles,
plus some American Robins, made this day really feel a bit more like
the near-60 degree temperatures suggested, a bit of spring. Also no

Hi Orhan and all,
There was indeed a Black Vulture at Montauk in early March 2000. Patricia
Lindsay and I saw it on 5 March and were very excited, given the species' real
rarity on Long Island at that time. It would be seven years before we saw

On second thought I am not sure I have seen a Black Vulture in Montauk
around 2000, It may have been my first Turkey Vulture, I started birding
around that time.
But I am sure I saw Black Vultures somewhere around Doodletown, around that

On Monday 3/9 on my way to the ferry from NYC I saw a Black Vulture by the
High School in Greenport.
As I had locked myself out of my house later for more than an hour after my
daily walk and had a lot to do around the house I rushed the report with no
details:
I saw the vulture west of the school
Orange County. This from Matt Zeitler. An adult bird.
