This does seem like a new record extreme early date for NY State. Bull's Birds
of NY State has the early date as 6 Apr. In 2012 a Yellow-throated Warbler was
found on 5 April at Alley Pond Park, Queens County. Until now I believe that
is the record.

Buffalo has a Yellow-throated Warbler record from March 25, 2012 at Forest Lawn
Cemetery, found by Richard Salembier and Cory Callaghan.

This early report in Nassau County appears to be the earliest eBird record
for the state. I do not know if there are any non eBird

2 American Woodcocks around 6:30pm today. One skittish one on south side,
and a calm one catching worms NE corner by the bird bath.

Still present today at 3:00PM along the southeastern edge of Fuch’s Pond near
an improvised foot bridge over a small gully. Fuch’s Pond is on the east side
of Waterside Road north of NYS Route 25A in Northport.

Joe Giunta and I (Sy Schiff) went looking for migrants, starting at Hempstead
Lake SP. On a short walk north along the stream, we found 7 PINE WARBLERS, 1
PALM WARBLER, 2 NORTHERN FLICKERS, many EASTERN PHOEBES and a YELLOW-BELLIED
SAPSUCKER among other birds..

I spent a productive 45 minutes this afternoon in Van Cortland Park before
being driven out by a cold rain. The highlight was a group of 30 Killdeer
on the Parade Ground, 5 Green-winged Teal displaying and vocalizing on the
lake, a Black-crowned night Heron and a Great Blue. Lots of Red-winged
The Yellow-throated Warbler continues and is being quite cooperative along
the stream at Valley Stream State Park.
If you are going to try for it, the stream is east of the bathrooms near a
picnic area. Look for a Bamboo Grove to know you are within the area the
bird frequents.
I want to thank
The warbler continues at Valley Stream State Park. It is working its way
along the trail that is streamside.

Found waterthrush while searching for rusty blackbird in wooded swamp area east
of the pond off Waterside Road and to the left of parking area on south side of
