Following my full coverage of the pond on Saturday. Today, I decided that I
would give it another crack with the hopes of less foot traffic. It worked out
well enough to get a decent snapshot of the birds on and around the pond. In
short, there seemed to be less shorebirds on the pond today than

The Staten Island Wood Stork was found dead this afternoon in the same
location that it has been frequenting since last weekend. The bird was
salvaged under USFWS/DEC permits and is now at the American Museum of
Natural History. We will provide further information when we have it—

Today, I was able to circle the whole south end of the pond wearing only a
sneaker for the first time ever and I didn't get my shoes muddy even. LOL.

On Saturday morning, the spoonbill was seen by myself and others at the Cold
Spring Harbor town dock. We observed it flying out, heading north toward Long
Island Sound.
At 3:15pm, a spoonbill was discovered in New Canaan, CT. It looks to me like

3 Wilson’s Phalaropes are right now at the southend of the East Pond, currently
favoring the southwest cove along with the often MIA Black-bellied
