Get a book called an "Assembly Manual" for your TF years. Most of the vendors
of parts have them, usually around $25. It is drawings of almost every part and
how they go together, some part numbers, little written stuff in it. It will
also show all size trucks, and the options for those years.
I realize that I probably won't get very many if any good responses
to this request, but I shall ask it anyway. But, who knows, maybe I
will be pleasantly surprised.
Can anyone out there tell me what each of the holes in the firewall
are for, along with the approximate size and location, in a '58
OOPS !
I was gong to say ' four ' but the really good nes is this : the bed
will sit in place just fine with only TWO long carrige bolts hangine
loose down through the frame , no nuts at all whilst you work the
truck ,_HARD_ and never even notice.
These trucks are really well engineered
Hey Bruce ;
You bought the usual old truck , you'll be surprised to find that
after several _HOT_ oil & filter changes and valve adjusts , dwell &
timing adjustments and cleaning mud dauber wasp nests' out of the
carby & fuel tank , etc. it runs surprisingly well and can be driven
as is after

Don't be sorry , you did nothing wrong . good to know as much as
possible about your truck .
Canadian GMC's mostly came with Chevy engines .
If you're in Canada , go find a rusted out '50s vintage Canadian Pontiac
as they came with romping stomping 261 engines that'll bolt right in
lieu of you
I dunno , I've never seen it ~ the truck -did- come with an inline 6
banger engine , yes ,
Near the distributor is a flat machined pad , if you wire brush the
grease & dirt off it , the first three digets -amy- tell you (& us) the
engine's displacement in Cubic Inches _if_ it's a GMC engine .
Hi Richard,
I think that it is a welcome change as I have a 55 1st also. My title says
54 but vin and hood emblems show it to be 55 and probably titled year of
purchase. The only difference you will notice btwn. 54 and 55 1st is that the
hood side emblems are different.
I tell the common
