When I set a carb up after rebuild, I run the screw(s) to fully seated, then
back them out to 1 1/2 turns.? That always seems to get me in the ball park.? I
think 1/2 turn out is too little, IMHO.? Try it.

Could it be the fuel pump?? Use a hose or long screwdriver held to your ear and
touch it against different areas of the engine when it ticks.? Sometimes this
can help pinpoint the noise.

I too had to replace the clutch and brake pedal bushings on my '48 3100.? I
think the screeching noise the clutch pedal when engaging and disengaging is
why my hearing is bad today.? It has been a few years ago, but when I grease
the old boy, I do the clutch first.? I'm sure they all wore out
I would also release the hood latch and loosen the bolts at radiator support.?
Remember, the hood and front fenders are attached to the cab too.? Some
adjustments may be needed after all is said and done.

I'm not familiar with the '40 model rear glass; does it have a locking bead
like my '48 & '65? If it does, and you cut the gasket just right (not too
short) you should not need any sealant. I have replaced the rear glass in both
mine and never had a leak without sealant of any kind. G

it. Repop catalogs showed padding should be installed between the braces and
the sheet metal. I ordered and installed; problem solved. The padding was
fairly firm to support the panels, yet not be a solid

I also found it helpful to "relieve" the opening in the tool to allow the
beading to pass through it easier and at a slight angle. This is not easy when
you forst try, but practice (and the right lubricant) make it much easier.

from '55-'69 trucks are all the same width (61 or 62 inches from drum to drum)
