Installing the debian 11 package worked, thanks. I too got an error
message at the end of the install process. Poked around, and I think
(not tested) that the problem can be worked around by setting global
write access (chmod 777) on the .deb file.

That sounds a bit weird. We build on Debian 11 and ldd —version reports ldd
(Debian GLIBC 2.31-13+deb11u12) 2.31. As I understands it there is no
requirement for 2.38 of glibc. Maybe Erich or someone else can give an
explanation?

I'm setting up a new machine with Debian 12. When I try to run ooRexx
5.1.0 I get an error message complaining that GLIBC-2.38 cannot be
found. It appears that Debian 12 is shipped with GLIBC-2.36. I scouted
around a bit and upgrading GLIBC is discourged.
Does ooRexx actually r
