It works OK for us on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (apache 2.2.22-1ubuntu1.5, php 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.11, smarty 2.6.26-0.2ubuntu1). Installation was pretty painless, but there are a number of patches floating around that make it work better. I haven't tried it on 14.04 yet, but I anticipate more changes
