1.4.2-rc3 does not contain large file support. Large file support
only exists in the 1.5 series. Double check that the file you
wrote is actually valid.

1. There is a bug report that 1.5.x won't compile on 32 or 64 bit SuSE
10.1. Normally compile errors are fixed promptly
2. I can test in a lightly used production environment: that has every bell
and whistle imaginable, dual ports, my own firewall

What if any kind of automated testing tools are used with AFS? In the
past year, I have been trying to integrate more automated testing into
my own work and I was wondering what, if any, automated testing is going
on with openafs?

If there is a problem with a release that you encounter and you don't
say anything and no one else says anything then it will never be fixed.
If it is never fixed, then it will become a problem for you when you
upgrade and it will be too late.
