i've been using openmeetings for a month or so and like it fairly
well. however, the other day someone mentioned 'big blue button'. i
was wondering if anyone had a comparison of the features, maturity,
and support of these products? and, are there other oss conferencing
services besides these two?

if i share a desktop, i get a 10+ second delay. this isn't generally
an issue. however if someone wants to control the desktop (ie,
support) this is obviously an issue. what should i look into in order
to resolve this?
i'm not sure this is an OM issue because i've seen delays with skype's
desktop
I don't know how much work is being done here, but I think the desktop
sharing could be improved as I've had issues with the screen being refreshed
when providing assistance. Also, there doesn't seem to be a right click
feature.
I use a mac, clients are on Windows xp.

Asterisk used to have these issues with reviving faxes. I've heard this is
resolved in recent versions.
That said, I haven't really noticed any issues with voice in voip vm
systems. There might be sync issues if you record a meeting on a vm - don't
know.

so, as i noted, i followed the debian instructions (which they noted
were pretty old). however, i switched over to the cent instructions at
some point near the end of the debian instructions.
what i'd recommend is to try to follow the centos instructions from
start to end. use apt-cache search to
set=utf8 in my.cnf, stop

i have a debian 6 box that i want openmeetings on. i went through the
debian steps (pretty much, i used packages whenever possible). then i
looked at the centos guide and realized that i probably didn't need
half of those packages (and they don't modify the openoffice Startup
file).
