I've been reading the docs.
I understand that a social gadget is a javscript thingy that can be
run anywhere.
I can get the social network information for the person, their
friends, etc.
But what is the most effective (and recommended) way to connect with
MY backend?
So I've got these

Well, for me, and I imagine many developers, the priorities are
simple:
1) allow us to start early or at the same time as other developers, to
have a fair chance to spread
2) Implement notifications or some kind of similar mechanism to reach
users outside of the app, so it can grow virally
Hey everyone,
I'm just getting started but I wonder if anyone has any good tips for
new developers. For instance...
The sandbox on Orkut doesn't seem to be refreshing my app. I've tried
reinstalling my app but it seems to be getting cached. Is there a
trick to getting Orkut to refresh the app?
You can always rename the gadget file and create a new application
referencing the renamed file to work-around the caching issue.

To access server-side stuff, we'll have to use our own forms and
AJAX. There are no built-in calls in OpenSocial for communication to
your site.

Just saw in another thread about caching issues and using bpc=1 to
force reload. However, using bpc parameter didn't really solve the
problem. OpenSocial is very new so we don't want to go crazy right
now, but some help regarding caching issues would be appreciated here
or on the main API page.
Well, it has been 12 hours so far for me. I just signed up again ;).
