P.S. maybe it's not quite that bleak, although I'm not aware of any
estimates of _when_ a stable lsof-like functionality would be available.
Eventually, some evolving extensions to DTrace might reach the point where
they could support an lsof-like tool.

I've got a SunBlade 100 running a fairly recent copy of OpenSolaris. Is there
some way to keep it from powering down the hard drives when they've been idle

Presently Sir, I am running sxce91 and responding in I'm guessing ide2. The new
build sxce93 is in ide1. How would I get that version in net. Applied the bfe
2.6.0a as before - no luck-.
