Thanks for the info. I tried the issued Opensolaris 2009.06 CD media with Fujitsu P8010 and Dell 15n/1545 I personally and it would not install. It installed ok on the HP s3123w desktop which I own. In a few weeks at Fry's I can retry the Toshiba A605-P210 on display with the CD media. I am on

I need the Toshiba A605, because it has Win, the battery life that LP/LV/WLED affords, the small size, and it's 1/2 the cost of the Toshiba R600. Why, pro camera s/w uses Win/Mac not Linux/OpenSolaris. I travel alot with big lenses & several pro digital camera bodies. I carry everything on my ba

Maybe I'm doing it wrong. What I did was 1) Boot the OpenSolaris 2009.06 media I got at the O'Reilly Open Source Convention a couple of weeks ago on my HP s3123w Amd64 Desktop. 2) Installed OpenSolaris onto a Sandisk 4GB USB Drive 3) Tested the Sandisk USB drive and it successfully booted from

Then I'll look for a R600 Win factory refurb that pops up for sale periodically on eBay for I recall $1050-1100. I see the U305, and U205 are on BigAdmin which I don't own. Until then I''ll have to use Ubuntu 9.04 which isn't so bad with Gnome. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org __

I went back to Fry's Sunnyvale this afternoon. On the Toshiba A605-P210 I was NOT able to boot OpenSolaris 2009.06 USB. I was able to boot Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 x64 USB. I tried several other Toshiba notebooks and none would boot OpenSolaris. I will next check the forums to see if the T

Anyone boot successfully OpenSolaris on Toshiba A605 notebook ? That's the 3.2 lb version of the 2.5 lb Toshiba R600 that is sold with OpenSolaris. But the A605 is 1/2 the price. Searching around, the A605 and R500 share the same PDF manual. BigAdmin does not list the A605. I went to Fry's and
