Yeah... we exist :) We just had a web hosting provider that screwed
up a data center move so badly our server hasn't been seen

The only possible source I know of is the currently very-much-experimental
and under heavy development xf86-video-avivo drivers being produced by the
Xorg community reverse

ATI has drivers for Linux as well, though they're usually behind
the Windows drivers. (For instance, the X1000 series was supported
on Windows about 6 months before they got a Linux driver out for it.)

As far as I know, ATI has no plans to release Solaris
drivers themselves.
ATI mentioned they support the open source developers
wanting to work on ATI video device drivers

Thank you Alan.
I am somewhat confused regarding their approach. They are saying the are going
to deliver these drivers, on one hand, but on the other hand they are claiming
they cannot because they don't own all of the IP (that part of the development

Hi folks,
Is anyone aware of a source who has drivers for the ATI X1900 that will work on
Solaris 10?
Alternatively does anyone know of someone who has a build plan specifying an
acceptable version of X11 or xorg, the proper libraries, etc., and maybe a make
procedure, to build a driver from

Oh, now I hear that ATI has newly collected a device driver programming team
that is larger than NVidia's! I think that when AMD took over control, they
started this but it takes time. If these rumours are correct, we will pretty
soon see good ATI drivers to all Unix, I believe.

ATI's support for Windows is crap, Linux is pathetic
and Solaris is
non-existant. Best advice is to be happy with the 2D
Xorg driver or
upgrade the video card.

Actually, from our own experience, the Solaris version of the VESA driver is
quite decent.

Thanks Ken.
I'll track this stuff down and if I find joy, I'll come back with the answers
