2. Is there a way to reinstall Solaris with ZFS instead of UFS?
3. No it's not a matter of having a bleeding-edge tools. My question was about
any pkg in Solaris, how can I update a pkg in Solaris to be short?

No, because the boot system cannot yet boot from ZFS.

For Solaris
That's too strong especially when talking about raidz
vs HW raid-5.
Depending on workload raidz can give you much worse
performance (or
better). Additionally current hot spare support in
ZFS is far from
perfect.
Probably the best thing to do in OP's case is to run some tests and get some
environment with AMPS (Apache MySQL, PHP, Solaris)
The other discussion in this thread notwithstanding,
I think PostgreSQL would be the better database to mention.
I can't seem to get anything that works with PostgreSQL
APPS, PAPS, SPAP, SAPP
I guess SPAR (Solaris, PostgreSQL,
That's a variant on the old DEC number plate:
live free or die
U N I X
That'll work too.
I don't know how I ever did without UNIX.

Wow, do you think it's easily portable to the Linux
kernel?
How long do you think it might take them?
That was one of the questions I hoped to get answered with this thread ;)
What do you think / Do you know, how much % of the zfs code needs/needed to be
rewritten ?
Anyway I doubt it
