I tried installing snv_41 to produce the requested scanpci output, and lo and
behold my HP nc6230 laptop booted up properly right from the DVD! Looking at
the bug list, I see that bug 6401605 is marked as fixed, and I'd tend to agree.
This is great - I'm back in business with Solaris on my HP
Sorry, I've only now checked this thread again. I wiil post the results of a
scanpci -v, but I won't be able to do this for another week or two as I had
to temporarily re-install Windows to test an Exceed installation.

4./06 (snv_38?). My guess is that, at a minimum, most of HP's recent business
laptops are affected.
The kernel debugger workaround summarized by briddle (Apr 24) does allow me to
boot this machine and install using the

As I said, AFAIK the affected machines are built around ATI Radeon Express
chipset.
Acer Ferrari seems to have no problem but the Acer Aspire 5024 WLMI, which is
similar has. The problem occurrs

I was succesfull at booting Build37 on an HP NX9600:
Basically it went like this. 1)
- Boot with -kd options or -kvd option
- From the Grub menu pointed at Solaris hit e e
- append -kd to the kernel line
- hit ENTER
- then type b or hit ENTER again
