Depends on how far the "support" goes, support of SATA on x86 requires SATA

basically, I am out of luck, because the initial boot dialog that my PCI card
offers, doesn't have an option to enable non-raid mode. I think its hard coded
to be raid.
If I were in ATA compatibility mode in linux, will I see the drive as /dev/hde
instead of /dev/sda?
