I am now using snv_121
$ uname -a
SunOS terrasol 5.11 snv_121 i86pc i386 i86pc Solaris
Still I have a noisy hissing sound, even where there should be no sound playing
- just after the boot.
Playing a soundfile the sound is also laggy, jittery, noisy. Hard to describe

If you install the Nvidia drivers you get the Nvidia Xsettings tool installed
in Gnome (System->Preferences->NVIDIA X Settings)
There you find a tab labeled "Thermal Monitor" (which says 46 Celcius as Core
Temperature for me right now)
Other then that the audiohd driver generates permanent noi

- nvidia MCP79 chipset
With Opensolaris b118, its installs ok from a USB stock on 2 SATA disks.
I get ~50MB/s sequential write on a ZFS mirror.
