My question is how far along is Portage from the Gentoo guys in OpenSolaris?
It is suppose to be an officially supported arch. I really would like to see
something like that in use.

netoffice.sf.net allows you to track the progress of projects and even
upload documents to add to those projects. If someone provides the server I
